Shree Sanjay Sai – My Only Best Friend

Each one of you must have heard the story “Footprints in the Sand.” Maybe some are not aware, so let me briefly narrate it. A person dreams about his life as a walk with the Lord. On a beach, he notices two sets of footprints in the sand. But to his dismay, he sees only one set during the most difficult times of his life. He asks, “God, why did you abandon me when I needed you the most?” God, with all His love, replies, “Child, those times when you see only one set of footprints are the times when I carried you.”

After the Maha Samadhi [April 2011] of Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, I often felt miserable. I would sit in front of Swami’s picture and cry. During one of those moments, a voice within me said, “God is your only eternal friend.” That divine guidance led me to two of my beloved teachers. One of them, Sri Pratap Thakar, gave me a picture of Bhagwan Shree Sanjay Sai Baba and said, “Swami is in Nepal. You must visit.” That moment became the turning point of my life. The seed of Sai philosophy was sown by the Lord, nurtured with His care and love — and today, I feel blessed to be an instrument in His divine mission.

In December 2013, I spoke to Pratap Sir, who invited me to his home in Borivali. We spent two hours sharing our experiences of Baba. He said, Our Swami is very much with us. He is in Nepal and is known as Shree Sanjay Sai Baba — the same Sai Tattwa, only a different name and form.” He gave me Swami’s picture. I returned to Muscat, and from then on, I began conversing with the Lord in my altar.

During my 108 Divya Dham Temple pilgrimage, a voice within prompted me to seek Pratap Bhai’s help for my planned Muktinath journey in March 2016. Through him, I was introduced to Brother Amir Bhai, the Chairperson of Shree Sanjay Sai Organization, Headquarters in Nepal, who also ran a travel company. He warmly welcomed us with garlands and organized our trip beautifully.

On 22 March 2016, I arrived at Shree Sanjay Sai Vrindavan Dham in Kathmandu, my heart filled with dreams and devotion. We sat in the first row of the Bhajan Hall, surrounded by divine vibrations. The singers and musicians seemed not like performers, but instruments of Sai. The atmosphere overflowed with love. As the bhajans continued, I prayed deeply to my indweller Sai, Nothing happens without Your will. I am here because of You. Let me be an instrument in Your divine mission.”

As I chanted the Guru Moola mantra, the doors of the Vaikunth Hall, the interview room opened. Bhagwan Shree Sanjay Sai Baba stepped out, His eyes filled with compassion. He came near me, gently patted my cheeks, and asked lovingly, “How are you, Amma? When did you come? How was your journey?” Tears streamed down my face. Swami said, “I will give you an interview after the bhajan.”

During the interview, Swami materialized a gold chain and said, “I have bound you with the chain of love.” I asked, “Swami, how can I love You selflessly? How can I make You happy?” Swami replied, “You don’t have to do anything. No one can make Me happy — happiness is My very nature.”

I said, “Baba, Your love is like the ocean.” Swami smiled and said, “Every ocean has its shore — its limit. But My love has no limit.”

He advised, “Love more and more people. Live in such a way that when others think of you, only love comes to their mind.” Those golden words became my life’s guiding principle. Over the last decade, I have learned to see Swami as my dearest friend and closest companion.

Looking back at the beach of my life, I now understand — the single set of footprints during difficult times were not when He carried me, but when He taught me to walk with courage, carrying sunshine in my heart.

I am ever grateful to my parents, my husband, my daughter, and all my dear ones for their constant love and support.
